Silverheels Ranch History
The community of Silverheels Ranch gets its name from the nearby Silverheels Mountain, which took the nickname of a famous dancer from the area's gold prospecting days. As the story goes, this already-renowned woman gained even further adoration for her efforts to help others during a smallpox outbreak. The town's people looked to offer her thanks in the wake of the outbreak, but she had disappeared, so they named the mountain after her instead.
