Buena Vista real estate spans an impressive range of property types. For residential properties, potential buyers have their pick of everything from conventional suburban homes, to rustic mountain estates.
Larger homes for sale in and around Buena Vista tend to occupy open, spacious lots. These homes also display typical rustic Colorado architecture, with raised wrap-around porches, walk-out lower levels, stone and wooden cladding, and vaulted great rooms with floor-to-ceiling windows.
Closer to Buena Vista's town center, there is a fine selection of modern, new builds. Many cross-gabled single-family homes are available, finished in stucco or vinyl siding, with modest yard space and, of course, convenient access to the downtown area.
And distributed throughout the valley are a variety of quirky cottages and cabins. These properties also tend to occupy spacious lots. These, combined with the many vacant lots for sale around Buena Vista, provide excellent opportunities for hobby ranchers, or bases from which to enjoy Colorado's tremendous natural attractions.
Buena Vista is a small town located in Chaffee County, Colorado. Homes for sale in and around Buena Vista are distributed across the Arkansas River Valley. Buena Vista is 2 hours from Denver, and just less than 2 hours from Colorado Springs. The South Park Valley is 20 minutes east through Trout Creek Pass along Highway 285.
Along the valley, residents can visit the town of Salida in the south, and Leadville to the north. This area is known for its many awe-inspiring peaks, hot springs, white-water rapids, and fishing.
The valley was first settled in 1864 and has survived the ups and downs of the area's mining industry thanks to its stable agricultural potential. Many buildings from the town's early days still survive along its Main Street.
Perhaps the biggest draw for visitors and residents of Buena Vista is the fantastic array of outdoor recreational opportunities. The town of Buena Vista itself is home to a number of parks, playgrounds, a disc golf course, a regular golf course, and the Arkansas River.
The Arkansas River is perhaps the best venue for white-water rafting in the country, and has also been designated Gold Medal Trout Water status by the government of Colorado.
Hikers come to enjoy the many peaks in the area, like those of mounts Princeton, Yale, Harvard and Columbia — aptly named the Collegiate Peaks.
In the winter, you can enjoy snowmobiling and skiing, before descending into the valley to enjoy one of more than 300 days of sunlight. And thanks to the relatively warm temperatures, you can bike, kayak, hunt, camp, or visit one of them any historical attractions.
