FAIRPLAY The South Park Sertoma organization is holding its annual Victorian & Cowboy Christmas Ball on Saturday, Dec. 14, from 7:30 p.m. to midnight at the Fairplay Hotel.Musical entertainment will be provided by the 4th Artillery Quadrille Ensemble and dance instructions will be given. Victorian or pre-1900 Cowboy attire is required. 

25th Annual Victorian & Cowboy Ball, live music, food, cash bar, dancing in the round, costumes and silent auction. Location will be American Legion, 601 Clark Street.

Our winter adventure run will have your heart racing and not just because of the 10,000 foot altitude, this fun yet challenge course will have you climbing over and crawling through obstacles, running in deep snow through scenic woods and fields and sledding down steep inclines.


New to the event this year is our first annual “Mountain Man” contest.  Can you grow the best mountain man beard and represent with the best matching flannel?

December 11–15, 2019

Ullr Fest will celebrate 57 years this December 11-15, 2019, and the Town of Breckenridge invites snow lovers of all ages to join the party. During Ullr Fest in Historic Breckenridge, don’t be surprised to see horned Viking hats adorning the heads of skiers and snowboarders. Join us for the biggest bonfire in town and more than 12,000 Ullr enthusiasts filling the streets for the Ullr Parade with crazy float participants skiing off jumps on Main Street or gliding along town in a hot tub. Pray for snow with us and Ullr himself… he’s ready for a good party.

The first weekend in December begins Breckenridge’s annual transformation into a sparkling holiday scene. Participate in the Race of the Santas, where hundreds of jolly look-alikes race down Main Street, watch as Santa uses his magic to light up the town for the winter season, and dress up the pups for the Holiday Dog Parade.

South park hunting in an all draw area. With Hunt units 49, 50,500 and 501 that are all draw areas. You can see game off of the highways and back roads here. The herds are very well managed by the Division of Wildlife. This offers hunters  a healthy  and robust population of antelope , elk, moose and deer. There are sheep and goat units here also but a much harder proposition to obtain a license. For the none hunter there is a great opportunity to view these species here in the Park all year long. That being said hunting is also the herd management tool that has been proven to work to keep the game population to a size that this area can support. Jefferson Lake

Jefferson Lake is one of the highest lakes sitting at more than 10,000 feet and is also one of the first lakes to freeze each season. The water at Jefferson Lake rarely reaches more than 50 degrees and is primarily manages as a “catchable” Rainbow Trout fishery, with plenty of Mackinaw mixed in. Other species include: Kokanee Salmon, Rainbow Trout, Brook Trout and Cutthroat. Jefferson Lake is a wakeless boating lake with Seasonal access.
